Be heard. Be strong. Be proud.

Hey guys!  Did any of you catch the new Disney movie, Lemonade Mouth?  It stars Bridgit Mendler from Good Luck Charlie & Adam Hicks from Zeke and Luther.

I have to admit, I thought it was going to be one of those cheesy movies Disney has been making, but Lemonade Mouth is definitely the best thing ever since High School Musical!

Lemonade Mouth is the story of five Mesa high school freshmen, Olivia White, Wen Gifford, Stella Yamada, Charlie Delgado and Mo Banjaree, who meet in detention and form a band.  Being the underdogs in a school that focuses on sports, Lemonade Mouth soon start a revolution to let their voices be heard.

I just love the message of the movie.  It tells you that you're special in your own way and you should be proud of it.  ("Be yourself" seems to be the theme for 2011! Haha!)

Let me give you a little insider on the characters of Lemonade Mouth:

Olivia White;
Olivia is a shy girl who is quite a bookworm.  She's lived with her grandmother ever since her mother died and her father was sent to prison.  Olivia soon becomes Lemonade Mouth's lead singer & songwriter.

Stella Yamada;
Stella is very outspoken, fearless and talented.  She came all the way from Rhode Island to a new town, a new school, a new life.  Stella, however, thinks she's too stupid to be in her family of geniouses.  She is very determined and headstrong.  She is the lead guitarist for Lemonade Mouth.

Mo Banjaree;
Mo is an intelligent, goody two-shoes kind of girl.  She struggles to impress her father for this perfect Indian daughter vision he has for her.  She secretly dates Scott Pickett who happens to be from Lemonade Mouth's opposing band, Mudslide Crush.  Mo is classically trained with the violin, but she plays the bass for Lemonade Mouth.

Wen Gifford;
Wen is a funny, carefree, laid-back guy.  He may have a great personality, but he definitely doesn't like the fact that his dad is re-marrying a 28-year-old woman.  Wen was very enthusiastic about the idea of starting Lemonade Mouth.  He plays the keyboard for the band.

Charlie Delgado;
Charlie is a talented, good-natured guy who comes from a wealthy family.  His parents try to make him live up to his 'perfect' brother, Tommy, who is off to college at Stanford.  He tends to be uncomfortable with the idea of starting a band and relies on a coin toss to see if they should really do it.  Charlie plays the drums for Lemonade Mouth.

This is definitely a must-watch for everyone of all ages!  Lemonade Mouth forever!

Flipped by Wendelin Van Draanen

My rating: ★★★★★

Summary:
Juli Baker has always thought of Bryce Loski's eyes  as the World's Most Dazzling Eyes, ever since they were seven years old!  Bryce had always thought of Juli as the annoying girl across the street, ever since he moved into the neighborhood.  Things eventually change as Juli and Bryce enter the Eighth Grade.  Bryce starts seeing Juli in a different light then finally flips for her.  Juli, however, wonders if Bryce is really as dreamy as she thought.

What I Like:
The book is so easy to relate to!  You can really understand what Juli and Bryce are going through.  The theme is so simple and pure.

What I Don't Like:
The ending!  It was just too sudden.  I hope Wendelin Van Draanen makes a sequel.

My Comments:
I'd recommend this to someone who was going to read teen romance for the very first time.  It's a really good starter.  I also loved the movie version!

Stuck In The Moment. ♥

Hey guys!  This is a very late post about what I'm going to blog about.  Very late.  /smirks

Anyways, you guys probably know what happened here in Manila last May 10, 2011.  Well, if you have no idea, Justin Bieber came to Manila! Yeah!

Well at first, I wasn't that excited about the concert since tickets were too expensive and I wasn't sure if they were still available!  But thanks to my sister's persuading skills, she got my dad to check Ticket World for info!  By luck, there were still 13 tickets available! Yay!

While my sister and I waited for May 10, we started to prepare essentials we would need for the concert. Like a Justin Bieber tshirt!  Luckily, we found some in The Perfect White Shirt.  My friend Danica (who also went to the concert with me) made two banners.

On May 10, I actually had cooking lessons, so I ended up smelling like food during the taxi ride to the MOA Concert Grounds.  My dad was already lining up for us.  He was there since 2pm! And the concert was at 8:00pm!

Man, it was packed!  The whole area was overtaken by girls, if you ask me.  Haha!  The picture on the left is from the line.  It was a good thing my dad got a spot near the front of the line (since the tickets we got were free seating).

Almost everyone was in purple!  It was so funny, cause my mom was going to be watching the concert with us.  After noticing, she turned to me and asked, "Arielle, what's with purple today?" I couldn't help but laugh!  I was like, "Mom! Purple is Justin's favorite color!"  Hahaha!

Then Danica arrived and joined us in the line.  The security started letting people in at around 5pm.  Man, people were running like crazy!  It was so much fun! Haha!  We got good seats, but sadly, security took away our banners. /sniff I don't really know why.  They took away all our hard work.

Here's a picture of the place after everyone was in.  If Justin ever comes back to the Philippines, he should have his concert at Araneta.  Seriously. /laughs

We had McDonald's for dinner.  You're not allowed to bring even bottled water in there!  Suxx.

Poreotics were Justin's front act. They were awesome.  They even taught the audience how to dougie!  "Step, step. Cross, cross.  Wheelchair, wheelchair."  Lol~

Then after Poreotics, a DJ came up and started playing music.  He even put a countdown to count the minutes 'till Justin would finally be on stage.

After 15 long minutes, Justin finally came on stage.  At last! Here's the order of all the songs he sang:

  • Love Me
  • Bigger
  • U Smile
  • Runaway Love
  • Never Let You Go
  • I'll Be
  • Favorite Girl
  • One Less Lonely Girl
  • Stuck In the Moment
  • Somebody to Love
  • Never Say Never
  • One Time
  • That Should Be Me
  • Eenie Meenie
  • Pray
  • Baby
It was amazing!  Sadly, he was sick during the show.  He had asthma and chest infection.  But he gave us Filipinos the best show. /thumbs up

Thank you Justin for officially bringing SWAG here in Manila!

We will be remembered.

"Long live, the walls we crashed through
All the kingdom lights shine, just for me and you
I was screaming, long live all the magic we made
And bring on all the pretenders, one day we will be remembered"
Long Live, Taylor Swift

Long Live has been stuck in my head for these past few days.  I was thinking, "This could be a good graduation song." Haha!  Yes, I have been listening to a lot of Taylor Swift.  (And Justin Bieber)

So what have you guys been up to?  Well, I've been pretty much obsessed with Nickelodeon's new TV series, House of Anubis.  It's like my favorite show now.  I have no favorite character because I practically like the entire cast!  Every time I watch, I'll be thinking, "Oh how I wish I could study in a boarding school like House of Anubis and then I get to solve mysteries and stuff like that!  That would be legit!"  Oh wait, there's HoA later!  Yay!  I better watch.  Haha!  Shows my obsession with British things.  I am such an anglophile!

Oh no!  I am 21 books behind in my 2011 Reading Challenge.  Ugh.  MUST. READ. MORE.  Speaking of reading,  I'm currently reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Hihihi.  I just love the smell of paperback books.  (Random, much?)

A random thought just popped up in my head.  If I could hind in anyone's attic, whose would I hide in?  Hmm..OH! I'd probably hide in Tim Burton's attic.  Maybe I could find loads of his old drawings there.  Tim Burton is just amazing!  Really amazing.  I love Edward Scissorhands and Alice in Wonderland.  /thumbs up

I've been looking for the book, Flipped by Wendelin Van Draanen.  I really want to read that book, but it wasn't available in Fully Booked the last time I asked.  I'm also looking for the DVD!  I was watching the trailer of the movie and I really want to watch it with my best friends! /winkwink

Anyways, that's all for tonight.  See you guys later!

The Penderwicks on Gardam Street

My rating: ★★★★★

Summary:
The Penderwicks are back home on Gardam Street!  When Mr. Penderwick's sister, Aunt Claire, decides that he should start dating again.  This means trouble for the sisters!  Follow Rosalind, Skye, Jane and Batty as they try to achieve their Save-Daddy-Plan!

What I Like:
It's the second Penderwicks book!  You can really relate to it!  If the first book is a great vacation read, this book is the perfect read on a Sunday afternoon, right at home!

What I Don't Like:
I loved everything from Rosalind and Tommy's relationship to Batty's spying on 'Bug Man'.

My Comments:
I really think they should make the books into movies.  It's really good.
