I first watched The Hunger Games with my friends, Mikki and Nicole. Then I watched it a second time with my good friend, Hannah! No words. NO WORDS. Probably the best movie adaptation I have seen so far.
I will probably be sounding like such a nerd for the rest of this post. Behold, my favorite moments from the movie!
P.S. My best friend, Kate, and I decided to run a Hunger Games blog together! Check it out! http://mahoganynightlock.tumblr.com
- We first see the Head Gamemaker, Seneca Crane, being interviewed by Caesar Flickerman. Can we just give a big round of applause for Seneca Crane's beard? Seriously! If I were a guy, I'd totally have my beard like that. Hahaha!
- Katniss and Gale hunting in the woods. I wish I had her archery skills.
- "You better tuck in your tail, little duck!"
- All the children gathered in the town square during the reaping. You can clearly see the fear in their faces.
- When Katniss first shrieks, "I volunteer!" in a broken voice, pushes through the guards, and says strongly, "I volunteer as tribute!" Wow. Just wow.
- Elizabeth Banks as Effie Trinket was just perfect. I couldn't recognize her in all that Capitol make-up and fashion. She was fantastic!
- District 12 saluting Katniss. I got chills during that scene!
- Josh Hutcherson. That is all.
- Peeta crying and Katniss holding back her tears on the car ride towards the train. I wanted to give those two a big hug. *sobs*
- I enjoyed Haymitch's character in the book, but I loved him even more in the movie. I salute you, Woody Harrelson!
- Do not mess with Haymitch, his refreshments, and his brand new pants, or you WILL get his foot in your face.
- "That is mahogany!" Oh, Effie.
- The Capitol fashions were the bomb! If only I could wear those in public without getting weird looks.
- Their costumes for the Tribute Parade were EXACTLY how I imagined them!
- Cato. Need I say more?
- The training scenes were epic! Cato and his sword skills, Marvel throwing that spear perfectly, and my goodness, Clove and her knives = NINJA.
- I just looooove Rue! That moment when she was just up there, in that net, with Cato's knife was priceless!
- When Peeta throws that weight across the training room and knocks down the spears. YEAH PEETA. Show those Careers what you can do!
- "I have NO chance of winning." Gah, Peeta stop making me cry.
- Katniss shooting the apple. You go, girl.
- "Thank you for your consideration."
- "Nice shooting, sweetheart!" Haymitch approves.
- Caesar Flickerman's entrance. AHAHAHAHA! Stanley Tucci was THE BEST!
- Foxface looked exceptionally pretty in her interview dress.
- Katniss's interview dress was beautiful.
- Caesar asking her a question to which she responds, "What?" Classic Jennifer.
- "Do I still smell like roses?" Their interviews were just so random! Haha!
- "Because she came here with me." Aww, Peeta!
- "I just want to show them that they don't own me. If I'm gonna die, I want to still be me."
- Haymitch giving Katniss some last minute advice before she boards the hovercraft.
- The hovercraft was really cool, but I do not want those tracking devices just injected into my arm like that. NO.
- The mockingjay pin on Katniss's jacket.
- Cinna comforting Katniss before she enters the arena. She was practically shaking! Poor girl.
- The fear in her eyes as she is slowly elevated into the arena. Let the games begin.
- Katniss grabbing the orange backpack and fleeing away from the bloodbath.
- Katniss and Foxface running into eachother in the forest.
- Jennifer's acting was SUPERB when Katniss escaped the fire.
- Rue telling Katniss to drop the tracker jacker hive on the Careers was adorable. I love her!
- The Rue and Katniss moments. AHH I love them both to bits.
- Why did such an innocent child like Rue have to go?!?!
- Katniss's reaction to Seneca's announcement that 2 Victors will be permitted as long as they come from the same district.
- PEETA'S CAMOUFLAGE DESERVES ALL THE AWARDS.
- The cave scenes. /my creys (Although they did leave some of my favorite lines by Peeta out. *sniff*)
- I was actually saddened by Clove, Foxface, and Thresh's death.
- I pitied Cato so much when he died. Huhu
- Katniss bringing out the nightlock. There it was. The start of it all. The start of the rebellion.
- Seneca announcing Katniss & Peeta as the victors of the 74th Hunger Games.
- Poor Seneca being locked in the room with the bowl of nightlock.
- Katniss's dress was beautiful during their final interview.
- "I don't want to forget."
- Katniss's face when she sees her family and Gale again.
- Angry President Snow walking away.
Overall, it was a really good movie and I'm glad it stayed true to the book! Can't wait for Catching Fire!
My thoughts exactly! :))
ReplyDeleteI'm agreeing with practically everything on this list! Haha, it's been a while since it showed, but it's these things that make it memorable :))
