Raggedy Man

I know I haven't posted in the longest time but anyway I'm back!!! Are you guys happy to see me?

Hi, people of the internet universe! How have you all been? A very Merry Christmas to you all, and a Happy New Year! Hope you are all having splendid holidays with you and your families.

Yes, I know, I've been away for a while again. I've been rather drained from inspiring stuff that I haven't gotten around to posting any artwork for you! But not to worry, cause I'm back, and will definitely be posting again. *three cheers for me!*

Anyway, as you can tell by today's artwork, I've seen the Doctor Who 2013 Christmas special, The Time of the Doctor. Good grief. I pretty much cried the entire planet Neptune. I don't think I'll ever let go of Eleven. His personality was my favorite and he taught me to appreciate absolutely every life form on this earth. He taught me that bow ties and fezzes are that cool. He is still trying to convince me to try fish fingers and custard. Thank you, Matt Smith. You were one amazing Doctor. Geronimo!

What else have I been up to?

OH YEAH.

If you guys follow me on twitter and instagram, you probably know my biggest obsession as of the moment. *grand sound effects please* Disney's Frozen! It's no joke that I'm obsessed with the film cause I saw it three times in the cinema. [Disney has earned a lot from my family. Haha!] I'm in complete love with the music, and I've been drawing a lot of Anna and Elsa too! Expect some Frozen fanart posts coming up!

So yeah, that's it for now, as I am still recovering from the Doctor Who special. See ya later, fellas!

Day 25: You Really Are A Bad Guy

A character who makes you cry when they cry
Vanellope Von Schweetz (Wreck-It-Ralph)

I was watching Wreck-It-Ralph the other day and my heart clenched during the scene Ralph decided to destroy the race car they both worked on. All Vanellope wanted was a chance to actually be the racer she is, and because of Ralph thinking only of himself during that moment, she couldn't. My heart broke into pieces when she said, "You really are a bad guy!"

Disney Dudez

I was contemplating whether or not to post this, but whatever! This, my friends, is high class entertainment! Lianna showed this to me last night and now I'm listening to this nonstop. Being the Disnerd (Disney + Nerd. Hehe get it?) that I am, mashing up Disney songs with boyband songs made me go crazy! The My Girl/Kiss The Girl mash up was the absolute best thing ever! And also, don't you think that Dalton (the second guy who sings) rather looks like a human incarnation of Jack Frost? Teehee!

So what do guys think of the Disney Dudez? I don't know about you, but it got me inspired to draw the Disney princes this time! Might do some illustrations of them soon!

P.S. I may have fallen in love with the Cole aka the guy who plays Eric... *faints*

Monsters University

Yesterday, my good buddy, Nina and I had an impromptu movie date and watched Monsters University! You have no idea how excited I was for this movie. Monsters Inc. played a big part of my childhood. If you haven't seen MU yet, go watch it now! The movie was very entertaining. It was very colorful and full of jokes! It's a great watch with the family! Go watch now!

Now, about this little doodle of Mike Wazowski. My dad recently got me an iPad so I can create digital artworks on the go! I have been experimenting with it but this is the first 'real' doodle I've done. Still getting used to it, but I can't wait to create more artworks with it!

Moodboard Mondays: Say WAAAT?!

Hi guys! It's been a while since I posted my last moodboard, but hey! I finally found my moodboard style! So what's "in" for me this week?
  • I'm still suffering from quite the PCD, aka Post Camp Depression. I miss all the friends I've made dearly and all the fun we've had. {I vividly remember sleeping in the lobby of the venue during the last night. Hehe}
  • Saw Wreck It Ralph last week! IT WAS AMAZING. The concept....I can't even express how genius it was. Don't get me started on the Paperman short before it. It was too adorable for my life. {You can probably expect some fanart soon, especially of Vanellope. Such a cutie pie!}
  • Guess who officially started watching Doctor Who!
  • My sister and I are quite obsessed with making friendship bracelets at the moment. We have a whole box of strings and we love experimenting with different patterns.

Dipper and Mabel

THIS TOOK ME 8 FREAKING HOURS AND I AM SO PROUD OF IT! Okay, enough use of caps lock over there. But yes, I have decided that out of all the digital artworks I've done, this one is my favorite.

The characters in the drawing are Dipper and Mabel Pines, twins from the new Disney cartoon - Gravity Falls. It's by Alex Hirsch, the guy behind Fish Hooks {which I thought was hilarious by the way}. The show is about the twins' summer adventures at Gravity Falls, and the mysteries they encounter about the strange town.

I looooooove the show.  I'm a sucker for mysteries and cartoons, so putting them together is the best thing that could ever happen. Gravity Falls is absolutely hilarious and the characters are just amazing. Dipper is my favorite because he's so adorable, but Mabel....is like my spirit animal. She's very artsy and is kind of a spacehead. {Plus, she has sweaters to die for! The one she's wearing in my drawing is my favorite!}

I decided to start practicing with backgrounds now, so I tried it out with this one because I love the color scheme of the show. I'm so happy with how it turned out! I still need to brush up on my shading skills though...

I would very very very much appreciate it if you guys would comment your feedback on this piece! I really want to know what you all think and what I should be improving on.

Dipper and Mabel Pines & Gravity Falls belong to Alex Hirsch

Finally saw Brave!

{image via Google Images}
Last Friday, I finally saw the Pixar movie I have long awaited, Brave! I was extremely giddy in my seat as the trailers for the future films started rolling. {Oh the excitement, Arielle. Oh the excitement!}

Before they actually showed the movie, they played a short film called La Luna. It was absolutely adorable and the concept was genius!

{via Google images}
La Luna is about a young boy named Bambino, who goes on a sailing trip with his father and grandfather. The way I interpreted it, the three are responsible for the phases of the moon each night. I absolutely loved it! I hope to see more of Bambino and his adventures one day.

But anyway, back to the real topic! Brave was amazing! Pixar did very well for their first fairy tale. The plot may have been simple, but the animation was fantastic! The animators did INCREDIBLY well with the scenery and the natural elements of the movie. {The scenes with water were marvelous!} I could related SO much with Merida, but I think Queen Elinor's character was the most interesting. It would have been nicer if we learned more about the queen. The scenes where she tries to understand Merida's point of view while she was a bear were simply touching! I also adored Merida's three younger brothers, who looked insanely adorable as bear cubs. {Sadly, the only name I remember out of the three brothers is Hamish. Haha!}

Aside from all the wonderful animation and artsy-ness in this movie, what inspired me the most is its different definition of the term brave. Being brave isn't just facing your fear or fighting for something you love physically. Being brave also means being able to say you're sorry and admitting what you've done wrong to the people involved in the process.

This movie is truly a work of inspiration and you all should watch it while it's still in cinemas!

I'm planning to watch it a second time with some of my friends from Camp Dream and I simply can't wait! Oh the happiness animated movies bring me!

The Bear and the Bow

Princess Merida (c) Brave, Pixar

I am really pumped for Pixar's upcoming movie, Brave!  It is going to be their first fairytale and will be somewhat darker and more mature than their previous films, how exciting!  According to Pixar, it will be taking place during the 10th century in the highlands of Scotland.  Sounds really interesting, don't you think?  The video below is the trailer for Brave.

The drawing above is of Princess Merida.  She is the lead character of this film.  I absolutely love her character design!  Her crazy red hair and her Scottish accent are just perfection.  The fact that she's amazing with a bow & arrow makes me want to go out and try archery myself!

June 2012 please come faster!  I absolutely cannot wait to watch this animated film!

Tangled

Today, I finally watched Disney's Tangled!  I have to say, it's one of the cutest Disney films I have watched! Rapunzel is now my second favorite Disney princess! (Ariel will always be the first) And Eugene is my second favorite Disney prince. (If you consider him a prince)  Pascal was just plain adorable! (I want a chameleon!) Maximus was so funny!  Mother Gothel is now my second favorite Disney villain (my first is Morgana from The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea).

Funny, after watching the movie, I realized that Helena Bonham Carter can actually play Mother Gothel.  I see a resemblance in them.  *wink wink*

Well, this movie is a great to watch with the family.  It tells you that if you have a dream, go after it!  Don't just sit around and wait!

Oh how I would love to be a concept artist or a storyboard artist for Disney!  (That is my new dream, and I am going after it) I'm going to save up for The Art of Tangled book so I can learn from it.  Let's do this, Arielle!

Do you remember these shows?

Let's Get Random!

Oh how I miss my dear Junior Total Girl team!  I miss...

  • Czarina, our Junior Editor-in-Chief
  • Sel, our Junior Managing Editor
  • Hannah, our Junior Art Director
  • Ana, our Junior Fashion and Beauty Editor
I miss them like crazy!  We haven't had a group reunion ever since.  It was always Hannah and I who got to meet.  (The perks of being home schooled, haha!)

In this year's February issue of Total Girl magazine, the search for the Junior TG Team pages are back.  I can't wait for summer so I can meet Batch 2 of the Junior TG Team 2011!

Here's a sample of of a picture
done from Poladroid. Isn't it cool?

So anyway, I downloaded this really cool app for my laptop.  It's called Poladroid.  You drag your pictures to the camera, and out comes a Polaroid version of it! (Though the Polaroid picture of the Junior TG Team Batch 2 above was done on Photoshop) I think this app is genius.  Hihi!

Oh! And do you notice that I have a new blog banner/header?  Haha.  I finally found out how to use the clipping mask tool in Photoshop!  Hooray!  *dances*

Speaking of dancing,  my current fave movies are Step Up 2 & 3.  Moose (played by Adam G. Sevani) is so awesome!  I want a best friend like Moose one day.  One that will dress up as Ashley Olsen while I dress up as Mary-Kate.  Heehee! (Fangirl, much?)
 Meanwhile on Tumblr, I am reblogging Disney stuff.  Oh how I miss the old Disney films!  (Especially The Little Mermaid, no surprise there.  LOL) I also miss the good Disney shows like Phil of the Future and Lizzie McGuire.  Shows that didn't have anything related to boyfriends, kissing and stuff like that. *sigh* Bring the old Disney back!

This has been a really random post! (And a very long one, if I say so myself. Haha!) To the next trip of randomness!
