Moodboard Mondays: Spaceship to Infinity Redefined

One of the projects we did for last Saturday's session of Blogworthy {Which was also the last. Huhu, going to miss everyone!} was to create a mood board that would define our blog. I was very excited for  this activity because I'm the type of person who likes grouping things according to color and appearance. Lo and behold, here is Spaceship to Infinity redefined.

  • I totally love Spaceship to Infinity's new logo! It's just so artsy and I love how it fits my personality. {I also love how it gives emphasis on the A}
  • Ariel. My favorite Disney princess, who was also animated by my favorite Disney animator, Glen Keane. I cannot emphasize how important she is in my life. Not just because we have the same name, but I see a lot of her personality in myself. We're willing to do what it takes to achieve what we want in life. Mermaids unite!
  • I like collecting photos of spaces, desks, and all sorts of home-y things. {Hence my "Future Home" and "Spaces" boards on Pinterest. Follow me!} I looooove the "working-at-home" feel of the desk and goodness, the lamp itself. It looks like you're in your little Neverland.
  • I'm pretty much obsessed with pretty illustrated posters with uplifting messages on them. Thus, the image of a hot air balloon with all other thingamajigs on it. Aw yeah.
  • Yes, more Disney. Peter Pan is one of my absolute favorites among the older Disney films. Plus, it was also one of my biggest inspirations to try out theatre after seeing it live last 2007. Ah, memories.
  • Oh my goodness, I can't even stress how much this last photo speaks the truth! {Plus I love the pretty typography. Yipee!}
  • Finally, my favorite color scheme of the week. You can never get enough of color schemes. Never.

Ah, moodboards, how they can clear up your mind. Making this was actually very relaxing. In fact, I'm thinking of making "Moodboard Mondays" a weekly thing here on Spaceship to Infinity! Definitely looking forward to next week's moodboard!

Insta Art

Some drawings I've worked on and got too lazy forgot to scan. These are all taken and edited through Instagram, using an iPod Touch. {Hence the rather grainy quality.} It's really nice to see how I've been improving in my art each day.

Tote-ables: Positivity

After QUITE a while, I decided to bring this back. Yes, taking Tote-ables seriously now! I've been really busy with schoolwork, that I haven't had any time to work on my business. Three cheers for it has returned! {I'm exceptionally proud of the new timeline cover I made for it. Let the rainbow appreciation begin!}

The bags in the Positivity collection have "feel good messages" on them. You can check them out here! Tote-ables now features messenger bags! Yipee!

What other exciting things are in store for Tote-ables? I'm now accepting custom designs for Php 300! You can message me via Facebook or tweet me for inquiries.

Really excited for how this is going to turn out! Hope to hear from you all soon!

Facing My Giant

Reposting this from my homeschool blog because I think it's a significant story I should share with you all. {Warning: expect a long wordy post. Please don't get bored! This means a lot to me!}

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Last July, TMAs peer group activity for the month was a showing of the movie Facing the GiantsFacing the Giants is the story of Shiloh football coach, Grant Taylor, who is currently struggling with his football team and his personal life As the story progresses, Grant learns how to accept these struggles and put his complete faith in God. He shares this new philosophy with his football team, and they slowly make it to the Nationals against the much favored team, the Giants.

One of Grant's players is David Childers, who plays as their substitute kicker. At first, David is hesitant to join the football team because he considered himself more of a soccer player rather than a football player. After his father encouraged him to try out, he actually makes the team. However, he is still scared that he won't be able to make the team score during matches because he thinks he can't kick every far. His father, who is unable to walk, tells him not to mope around waiting for something to happen. He tells David that he should always put his complete faith in God whenever we are afraid, and something great will happen.

I couldn't help but feel incredibly inspired after watching the movie. It was a reminder that God has something great in store for me and that everything happening in my life right now, including all the struggles, is a part of his amazing plan. It also reminded me that if I put my complete trust in God, great things will happen.

Recently, I faced one of the biggest giants I have ever faced so far: an audition. I'm not talking about the kind of audition I experienced back in 2008 for Repertory Philippines' A Christmas Carol. I'm talking about a real audition, one that most theatre artists go through now, with all the readings and dance auditions. Last July 28 and 29, I experienced all of that.

When creativity strikes!

Creative Life Advice

Here is a page from my journal where I made a list of things I should do whenever I'm experiencing an art block or simply bursting with creative energy.

{ l i s t e n  t o  n a t u r e }
It has been raining nonstop here in the Philippines. I love the sound of rain falling onto the ground. It's so relaxing.

{ p a i n t  e v e r y  o n c e  i n  a  w h i l e }
I just got back to painting with watercolor. It definitely gets my mind off things

{ p l a y  a n  i n s t r u m e n t }
I've been playing my ukulele quite a lot these past few days. Its cheerful sound just takes away all the gloominess in the air.

{ r e a d  a  f a i r y  t a l e }
As Einstein has said, "If you want your children to be intelligent, read them fairy tales."

{ m a k e  s t i c k e r s }
This is one of my absolute favorite things to do. Hand-drawn or digital, making stickers is one of my simple pleasures.

{ d r i n k  t e a / l e m o n  w a t e r }
Tea is extremely soothing during cold rainy days. But when the sun is out? I recommend adding lemon slices to your glass of water. It's very refreshing!

{ d r a w  E V E R Y W H E R E }
I think I struggle the most with this particular piece of advice. I guess I have to work on this MORE OFTEN.

{ t r y  n e w  t h i n g s }
I try to keep an open mind at all costs. I'm ready to learn whenever and wherever.

{ t e a c h  o t h e r s }
Knowledge deserves to be shared!

{s p r e a d  L O V E  n o t  H A T E }
I was browsing one of my mom's books and I found these wonderful words of wisdom, "Life is too short to waste time hating anyone."

Current Project

I aplogize for the low quality photo. I used my webcam for this. But anyway, here's the current project  I'm working on! A Camp Half-Blood shirt! I've been meaning to make this for quite a while now, and I'm really excited to wear it when it's done! I'll upload a better quality photo of the finished product soon! :-)

Happiness is....

 { watching a good animated movie }
I've been watching The Little Mermaid, Howl's Moving Castle, and Spirited Away recently. Nothing better than a few moments to escape to that fantasy world we've always wanted to visit as a child.

{ discovering a new tv show }
My dad, sister, and I just got into Missing, starring Ashley Judd. It's about an ex-CIA agent whose son goes missing, and her quest to find him. It's really action packed and very exciting!

{ getting two new books }
My mum just recently got Divergent and Insurgent, both by Veronica Roth. I've been hearing good reviews about the books and I absolutely can't wait to start reading them!

{ finding new art blogs to explore }
One of my favorite things to do when I'm online is to look at tons of art blogs. I just love getting waves on inspiration by looking at other artists' work.

{ goofing off with your parents }
Last night, the radio announced that they were holding a singing contest and that they were giving away 3,000 pesos. Goofing off, my parents and I decided it would be fun if I joined. I sang, I got on the list. I didn't get the 3,000 though, but it was so much fun. I wish all times with parents would be like this.

{ learning how to draw something new }
I once thought I could not draw animals. But after an art session for my homeschooling, I figured, it wouldn't hurt to try. After quite a while, I produced three artworks of a wolf, a tiger, and an elephant. I am quite proud of them, if I do say so myself. I plan on scanning them and posting them here soon.

{ knowing God has a plan for you }
Nothing is more reassuring than knowing that God has something great in store for you. You may not know when it's coming, but just trust in the Lord and He will lead you to the right direction.

July Obsessions

Time does fly indeed! Would you believe half of the year has already passed?! I have to admit though, July has definitely got to be one of my favorite months of the year. I've always loved the cool mornings and the rainy afternoons it brings, well, here in the Philippines, that is. But what else has tickled my fancy for this month of July?

Martin Freeman as Dr John Watson & Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes

  • I recently just got into watching BBC's Sherlock, which is a modern take on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's classic stories on the one and only consulting detective. I've read a lot of positive feedback about the series on Tumblr, so I decided to go and give it a try. I regret nothing! It is definitely my new favorite TV show! I love how they brought the 19th century characters into the 21st century and made it different. Definitely can't wait for Season 3 next year!

Synergy Online

Hi, everyone! I know I haven't been posting for quite a while now, but I'm back! Would you believe it's already the middle of the year? Time flies by so fast.

Anyways, I just wanted to let you all know that I've been featured in Synergy. Synergy is a blog run by my friends, Nina and Bea, which brings "different perspectives on music, literature, fashion, and the way of life" to the youth of today. When they asked if they could feature me for my artworks, I couldn't be more excited! You could take a look at the feature here. A big thank you again to Nina and Bea for the feature!

That is all for now, since it is getting pretty late and I have to go in a bit! Don't fret, I will be making more posts soon! Later, alligator!

Avatar: The Legend of Korra trailer

Excuse me while my inner geek shows in this post.
I've always been a fan of Avatar: the Last Airbender.
(I'm talking about the cartoon version)

So when Nickelodeon finally released the trailer for the next Avatar series,
I couldn't help but squeal in delight!
Oh the excitement! I cannot wait!!!

I'm Alive!

Yes, yes.  I am back from a long period of not blogging.  How have you guys been?

School and other activities have been making my schedule very hectic so I haven't really had the time to blog.

So what have I been up to these past few days?

  • Greyson Chance came to Manila last November 19!  I attended his press conference and watched his concert at Eastwood.  Want to find out what happened? Check out my Tumblr post here
  • I have been rather interested in the Dreamworks film, How to Train Your Dragon.  It has fantastic animation and has the most splendid soundtrack ever!  With all respect to Toy Story 3 and Pixar,  I personally think HTTYD should have won the Oscar.
  • I have been quite interested in watercolor and have purchased a set of Prang watercolors at National Bookstore a few days ago!  I cannot wait to start painting with them!
  • Milk tea = my current obsession!  I have finally [don't judge me! Haha] tried milk tea and it is heaven.  I'm loving Serenitea's Hokkaido milk tea and Gong Cha's [Gong Cha is located at the ground floor of the Megamall Atrium, for those of you who want to check it out] Winter Melon tea.
It is finally December, so I promise to bring this blog back to life! See ya later!

Changes

You guys have probably noticed that I've changed my blog url!  'arielleguevara' sounded too mainstream to me.  I wanted a funky and more creative url!  Behold, my blog is now called: Spaceship to Infinity!

Where did "Spaceship to Infinity" come from?  I really don't know.  It was just a random thought that popped into my head!  Wouldn't it be amazing if you could just hop into a spaceship and travel to the end of the world? (aka infinity!)

I'd love it if you guys would comment your thoughts on my new blog name!  Thanks a bunch!

Thirteen!

Guess who officially turned thirteen today? Meeee!

I have finally entered the stage of my life where I can call myself a 'teenager'.  I can now watch R-13 movies or PG-13 movies without a chaperone, though I have to be careful.

What did I do to celebrate?  Well not much, really.  I'm not a really big fan of birthday parties, though my family and I went to some thrift stores in Cubao.  It was awesome!  I can't wait to come back and probably buy stuff.

Funny, I received three necklaces as gifts, one with a heart pendant, one with a girl, and one with a microphone.  Cool, right?

I should better go back to doing what I have to do, so goodbye for now!
